Pamela Cainan

February 20, 1952 — December 4, 2025

Pamela “Pam” Lynn Cainan, 73, of Huson, Montana, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Pam was born on February 20, 1952, in Missoula, Montana, to Peter and Clara (Buss) Fritz. She grew up in Missoula alongside her sister Sharron and brother Louie, attending Missoula public schools and later graduating from Sentinel High School. She continued her education at the University of Montana, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. During her years at UM, she became a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority—an affiliation she treasured for the rest of her life.

With her degrees, Pam dedicated many years to teaching practical life-skills courses, work that brought her profound fulfillment. She often reflected that some of her fondest memories came from her time with her students and the joy of watching them learn and grow. If you were fortunate enough to be one of Pam’s students, you surely remember her saying, “If you want to learn something take my class. If you don’t, take shop”.

Family was at the center of Pam’s heart. On March 17, 1973, she married the love of her life, Patrick “Pat” Cainan. Pat liked to joke that getting married on St. Patrick’s Day ensured he would never forget their anniversary. Together, they built a wonderful life and were later blessed with their son, Chris.

Pam was admired for her creativity. She loved sewing and working with leaded glass, and she could often be found with a book in hand or participating in Bible study. And anyone who knew Pam knew of her unmistakable love for Mickey Mouse. Over the years she collected more than 700 pieces of Mickey memorabilia—some of which came home from the family’s trips to Disney World.

Pam will be remembered for her honesty, her generous heart, and the deep love she showed as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and Teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharron, and her brother Louie.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick Cainan; her son, Chris (Joani) Cainan; her grandson, Knox Cainan; and her dear friend, Forey.

A service to celebrate Pam’s life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.
