Peggy Otway was born in Los Angeles, California, to Henry and Mary Otway. Her family later made their home in Stockton, where Peggy grew up surrounded by music, learning, and the warmth of two devoted teachers. She attended Tracy High School and shone as an award-winning clarinet player in the school orchestra and marching band—an early glimpse of the creativity and spirit that would follow her throughout life.
Peggy graduated from Montana State University in 1974 with her degree in Nursing. Caring for others came naturally to her, and she carried that compassion into her work as a registered nurse at Northern Montana Hospital. After college, she married Scott Meyers and settled in Havre, Montana, spending time between there and the family farm in Frontier, Saskatchewan. Together they welcomed two sons, Matt and Andy, who became the joy and center of her world.
Peggy was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Havre, where she loved singing in the choir. At home, she found happiness in simple, meaningful things—gardening, sewing, crocheting, music, and baking. She loved holidays, and Halloween was her favorite. Each year she poured her heart into creative costumes and delighted in bringing a little magic and laughter to those around her.
In 2001, Peggy moved to Missoula, and in 2005 she married Paul Andrews. Paul became her loving partner for the rest of her days. They enjoyed traveling together, tending to their home, and sharing the quiet, everyday moments that gave Peggy such contentment.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Otway, and her brother, Henry Thomas Otway.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew (Andria) Meyers of Chester, Montana, and Andrew (Elizabeth) Meyers of Missoula, Montana; her cherished grandchildren—Taylor, Rush, Shade, Sawyer, Holden, Canon, and Reid Meyers of Chester, and Declan and Lennox Meyers of Missoula; and her husband, Paul Andrews.
Peggy’s life was defined by kindness, creativity, and a gentle strength that touched everyone who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, her many friends, and all who were blessed by her care and friendship.
