Roberta Evelyn Pohndorf

Roberta Evelyn Pohndorf passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026. She was born to Robert Sr. and Evelyn Tibeau on August 24, 1932, in Seattle, Washington, and graduated from Highline High School in 1950.

Throughout her life, Roberta worked a wide variety of jobs, from Boeing to retail clothing. Her absolute favorite was food demonstration, which perfectly combined her favorite passions: meeting new people, shopping, and enjoying good food.

In 1964, she married George Pohndorf, Sr. The couple lived in Bellevue, Washington, for many years, where Roberta was deeply involved in school events and always happy to add an extra plate or two to the dinner table for neighborhood kids. She loved entertaining—and was highly entertaining herself. The annual Christmas parties at the Pohndorf house were always large, lively, and unforgettable affairs. Travel was another major love, and Roberta was fortunate to enjoy many domestic and overseas trips with family, exploring Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Japan, and Italy.

In 1998, Roberta and George retired to Missoula, Montana. Together, they enjoyed countless road trips, picnics, and trying out the latest area restaurants. After George passed, Roberta stayed busy tending her flowers, birdwatching, and testing out her own creative twists on recipes she discovered on the Food Network.

In the spring of 2026, Roberta moved to Edgewood Memory Care in Missoula. Though she was only there for a few months, she loved the staff and enjoyed a restful, peaceful life there.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, George Pohndorf, Sr.; her son, George Pohndorf, Jr.; and her brothers, Bob Tibeau and Dick Tibeau. She is survived by her brother, Ray Tibeau; her daughters, Carolyn Nannery and Marilyn Gaul; her son, Rob Pohndorf; as well as six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and even a great-great-grandchild.

Roberta’s children will hold a private ceremony of remembrance in the upcoming year. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberta’s memory are welcomed and may be made to Missoula Aging Services: missoulaagingservices.org
