Stacey Laine Rossmiller passed away surrounded by her family shortly after midnight on May 2, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
Stacey was born on May 25, 1971, to Larry and Irene Hiller as the middle child of three girls. Stacey called Missoula her home for her entire life and wore her status as a third generation Missoulian as a badge of honor. Stacey attended Willard Elementary school for kindergarten through fifth grade, with sixth through eighth grade spent at Roosevelt where her and her classmates pioneered the newly formed middle school system. Stacey went on to attend Hellgate High School where she found her love for band and made many memories and friends putting on countless halftime shows and marching in all kinds of parades, including the 1987 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
Stacey also received her first car in high school, a 1967 Ford Mustang, and spent countless hours working on it and swapping the engine with her dad. Larry and Irene knew Stacey’s driving record was compromised the moment they saw the smile on her face as she peeled down the road for the first time with her license plate proudly displaying ONDPRWL (“On da prowl”). She loved that car and lived life to its fullest whether she was cruising the drag, taking her parents’ Bronco down Roller Coaster Road, shooting fireworks through the back of a cop car, or going to her favorite Missoula eateries like 93 Stop and Go, Big Sky Drive In, and Hoagieville.
Stacey started working at the Shipping Depot in Southgate Mall after high school where her gift for gab and outgoing personality caught the attention of the daily UPS guy, Mike Rossmiller. This friendship blossomed into dates, a proposal, and eventual marriage. Mike and Stacey were married in Missoula on June 12, 1992. In 1994 they had their first child, Matthew Scott and Kaytlin Janaye joined them in 2002. Stacey loved her family fiercely and they were her life.
Just before Kaytlin was born, Stacey started working for Missoula County Public Schools part time in the lunch program. Stacey continued to work her way up within the Food and Nutrition department where she eventually became the head and supervisor of that department. During this time Stacey chose to focus on her own health journey and found a love for a new fitness program called OULA. Stacey’s passion for OULA quickly caught hold and it was not long before she was an instructor taking and teaching numerous classes per week, if not per day. Stacey encouraged everybody and "every body" to dance with her. Her motto was "Dance the shit out of it!", and she did just that.
Stacey's other passion was all things Disney! She loved to travel, but every year took her to Disney. Disney is why she was in Florida at the time of her passing. Stacey fittingly spent her last day before being admitted into the hospital in Magic Kingdom and rode two of her favorite rides, The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Stacey always insisted on ending every trip to Disney World in Magic Kingdom, and with someone as headstrong as her it is no surprise that she fought to make it one last time.
Stacey is described by most as "larger than life". She learned to love life and live it to the fullest even if she was scared out of her mind. Take the trip, fly down the zipline, drive the Zodiac boat, ride the roller coasters; take the chance and don't hold back! Her outgoing and passionate personality and infectious smile will be remembered and missed by all that had the opportunity and privilege to know her.
Stacey is survived by her husband Mike Rossmiller, as well as her children Matthew Rossmiller and Kaytlin Rossmiller. Two sisters, Diana Sontag (Steve) and their children and grandchildren and Leslie Hiller. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends.
Services will take place at 10:00 am on May 16, 2026, at Garden City Funeral Home with a reception immediately following in the community room. Stacey hated all black funerals, and as such attendees are encouraged to wear all colors, as well as Griz and Oula gear. Donations in Stacey's memory can be made to Animeals, a program she cared for and believed in.
