Steven McLaverty

December 13, 1954 — February 11, 2022

Steven McLaverty, 67, long time resident of Missoula, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at his residence in Missoula.

Steve was born December 13, 1954, in Germany, the fourth child of Dr. Bernard and Marie McLaverty. After moving around a bit with his dad in the Army, the family settled in Missoula. Steve excelled as a basketball player and football players, earning all-state awards in both sports. Steve was offered a scholarship to play in college, but instead decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge Steve once again followed his father and began working with him as a forensic lab tech. Though the job had its challenges, Steve found it rewarding and enjoyed working side by side with his father.

Steve enjoyed having time to be outdoors and could be found camping, hunting, or most frequently out fishing. He enjoyed peaceful relaxation time as the years went on and especially liked having time at home. Steve was loved and will be missed by many of his large family and friends.

Steve is survived by the love of his life, Diane McLaverty, their son Jacob McLaverty; grandchildren Nevaeh, Josh and Haven; siblings Christine (Tom) Caplis, Terry (Kim) McLaverty, Diane (Paul) Johnson, Bridget (the late Doug) Shoup, Susan (Brian) Delaney, Mark (Julie) McLaverty, and Debbie (Mark) Chilcote; sister-in-law Debbie McLaverty; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard J. McLaverty, M.D., Marie McLaverty (Nee Cavanaugh), and two siblings Bernard McLaverty, Jr. and Marie McLaverty. Steve is now in Heaven out our Lord and Savior and all who have gone before him.

The family wishes to extend their gracious thanks to all who have helped them though this time.
