Thomas Anthony "Tom" Devlin

MISSOULA ~ Thomas Anthony Devlin, 88, peacefully passed away Monday, June 13, 2022.

Born in Sherbrooke, North Dakota to James and Elizabeth (Larkin) Devlin. Tom spent most of his childhood on the family farm with his seven siblings.

After graduating from North Dakota State School of Science, Tom landed a position with IBM as a Customer Service Engineer, which he held for many years until his retirement in 1987.

Tom met and married his wife Barbara Schmitt in May, 1962 and they went on to have three children. Tom was a true gentleman with the most kind and gentle demeanor who always placed family first.

Tom enjoyed playing in the family band, singing karaoke, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and family vacations. He was the most kind, loving and supportive father who lived for his family. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family. He had an infectious laugh and was known to constantly whistle or sing his answer to any question asked.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara.

Surviving are his daughter, Suzanne (Mark) Mershon, his son Thomas (Cheri) Devlin and daughter Teresa (Dan) Walsh. Tom has seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Missoula. Father Pascal Kasanziki will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Missoula City Cemetery. A Vigil will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army, the Missoula Veterans of Foreign War Post 209 and the Missoula American Legion Post 27.
