Thomas “Tom” Petroff, 84, of Missoula, passed away on his birthday, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Hope Hospice House surrounded by all of his family.

The youngest of 11 children, Tom was born on September 8, 1942, to Louise and Tudor “Thomas” Petroff of Bonner, MT. Tom had a love of bowling, gambling, Griz football, and only “winning” NFL teams. Tom was best known for his luxurious, thick, curly hair and quick wit. He was the reason sarcasm became his family’s love language, and he truly never met a stranger. He was a one-of-a-kind man who always did things his own way.

Tom worked tirelessly to create his own company, Professional Pest Management, which his daughter and grandson still run today and where many of his grandchildren have worked over the years.

Tom was preceded in death by many loved ones, including his son, Michael Thomas, who shared the same birthday.

Survivors include his four daughters, Charmell, Selena (Joe), Janelle (Mike), and Courtney (Greg); his grandchildren, Nick (Becky), Whitney (Keegan), Ashley (Jordan), Chelsea (Ryan), Cory (Kehani), Ally, Abby (Evan), Coby, Joshua (Reilly), Caitlin (Logan), Eli, and Keira; and 12 great-grandchildren, Owen, Jude, Trevin, Liam, Leighton, Lincoln, Hayden, Rylynn, Colt, Arlee, Cruz, and Savannah. In addition to his large family, he also leaves behind two wonderful sisters, Nina and Mary.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Garden City Funeral Home, 1705 West Broadway, Missoula, with a reception immediately following.

The family encourages memorial donations to be made to Hope Hospice Center in Missoula, Montana. The family would also like to thank Partners in Home Care and the caregivers whom the family could not have done without.
