Trent Laird

Trent James Laird was born in 1981 in Whitefish, Montana. Born the youngest son to Steve and Nina Laird, he passed away unexpectedly in Missoula, Montana on August 26, 2025.

Trent was raised in Whitefish, Montana, and attended school there, graduating from Whitefish High School in 2000. He was easily recognized by his consistently wide smile, which when received meant that you were his instant friend. To know Trent was to love him, and to be loved by him. He smiled big, and he loved bigger.

Trent married Christine Olson, to their union were born his two sons, Tucker and Colter. Their marriage ended in divorce, but they worked together to co-parent their sons in unity. His sons were his greatest joy in life, and he lived every day to provide the best life that he could for them. He was their best friend, confidant, biggest cheerleader, and greatest example of how to treat others.

Knowing Trent was to know genuine kindness. Whomever he was speaking to always felt as though they were one of the most important person in the world to him. He truly had a heart of gold, and passionately shared it with everyone he knew. He was passionate about recreational sports (basketball was his favorite), the Cincinnati Bengals, mom’s potato salad, Grandma Laird’s fur coat, and dressing in eccentric outfits for special occasions.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merlin and Nina Anderson and Norman and Arvellia Laird; and his nephew, Michael Laird. He is survived by his sons, parents, and older siblings: Tina (Bryce) Stevenson, Nick (Adrianna) Laird, and Ashlee (Danny) Main. He will be greatly missed by his 12 surviving nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews who all thought of him as the "favorite uncle.”

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3201 Bancroft St., Missoula, MT 59801.
